Summer's almost here, so time to hit the footpath or the treadmill and shake off those winter kilos. November's mixtape is all about running.
Some big voices in this month's mixtape. We've got some Nina Simone, some James Brown (kinda), some Prince, some Stevie Nicks and someone called Chance doing a pretty good version of Aretha. A very vocal mix coming your way.
I've been doing a lot of running lately, and I wanted to make something to run to, and this is what I ended up with. I don't normally play a lot of deep house, but this mix starts off quite deep. Good bass lines and subtle vocals to get focussed on the treadmill.
From there, we move into some contemporary tunes and a couple of nice remixes of some of my current favourite tracks from Metronomy and Gypsy and the Cat. Then, once the endorphins have kicked in, a bit of cheese to get you past the last couple of kilometres. And that version of Massive Attack's "Unfinished Sympathy" takes on a whole new meaning when sung by Tina Turner!
